Barcelona – The second Outlander generation is the first in Europe which was created by Mitsubishi on the new worldwide platform and which was developed for all worldwide markets in partnership with Daimler Chrysler Ag. This is a preatty versatile platform, on which about ten new models are supposed to be launched for different market segments: the same platform is going to be equipped with Awc (All Wheel Control), following the “world engine” project together with Daimler Chrysler and Hyundai Motor Company; moreover, it was chosen by Peugeot Citroën as basis for the new two SUV which are arriving on 2007: Peugeot 4007 and Citroen C-Crosser. A debut with.… Diesel Diesel engine will be available since Outlander's launch, planned for February 2007. Two new engines are coming: an original fuel V6 of 220 hp and a different version of the fuel 4 cylinders engine with an output of 170 hp. Mitsubishi introduces its Oulander in Spain, Barcelona, while waiting for its final launch and for the final price list. The new front is inspired to the Pajero Evo 2+2 concept, with essential shapes: it is 10 cm longer in the face of the previous version (4,64 meters vs 4,54) and 5 wider (1,8 vs 1,75). A dynamic and cutting-edge silhouette At the rear, Mitsubishi take the fifth wheel off. Outlander aims to become a vehicle for long travels, for all drivers who can not help travelling safe even on tough conditions, maintaning comfort and safety guaranteed by Awc system (All-Wheel drive Control). Outlander is equipped with independent suspensions on 4 wheels, with a braking system for high performances, and with a low centre of mass. European versions have Bridgestone tyres (225/55R18 or 215/70R16) and an additional sound-absorbing components' package specific for all diesel engines, which also includes a thicker windscreen. (0,4 mm more). Engines Diesel engine is the renowned Euro 4 2-litres unit with intercooler, DOHC, 16 valves put on Grandis Di-D. Manual 6-speed transmission gear, 140 horsepower and a torque of 310 Nm, standard anti-particulate filter; moreover, the top speed is 187 km/h. The different solutions for traction for the new Outlander are: 2wd (front wheels: for a relaxed driving and low consumptions), 4wd Auto (for hard terrains and bad weather) and 4wd Lock. On the road On the road Outlander is very agile. Mitsubishi tests it on the chaotic Barcelona's roads, alongside long and winding mountain roads, and also on an off-road path. Therefore, the car is silent and comfortable on paved roads. The steering-wheel is precise and reliable, the global view is good, made furthermore easier from the rear mirrors, even if to completely enjoy the sourrounding external view you have to put up the seat a lot as the front is quite high. The engine is dynamic and enjoyable in any conditions, while the gear box is fast. The vehicle weights almost 1,7 t, and it takes 10,6 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h. The integral traction is safe and gives to the driver a feeling of quiet and safety. Consumptions are definately interesting: 14,7 Km with one litre.
