Alfa Romeo SUV Kamal, al suo debutto nel lontano 2003, fece sobbalzare il cuore di molti appassionati: questo prototipo da salone prefigurava un SUV sportivo particolarmente aggressivo e stradale nel design, un vero e proprio precursore, seppur in un'altra ipotetica fascia di prezzo, di Infiniti FX e BMW X6. Il progetto fu congelato, ma non dimenticato: recentemente un muletto della Kamal è stato avvistato presso il centro di ricerca e sviluppo del Gruppo Fiat situato nel mezzogiorno, presso Pomigliano d'Arco. Secondo le ultime voci di corridoio, il capitolo SUV per Alfa Romeo è tutt'altro che chiuso. SI parla addirittura di due modelli, uno compatto basato sul pianale di Alfa Giulietta e della futura Giulia, ed un altro più imponente, top di gamma, basato sul pianale della nuova Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Attenzione, per ora si tratta soltanto di "rumors", a metà strada tra l'indiscrezione e la più candida delle ioptesi. Certo è che diversificando l'offerta con ben due proposte, Alfa sarebbe in grado di contrastare un ampio ventaglio di rivali, dalle compatte regine di vendite Volkswagen Tiguan e Nissan Qashqai fino alle elitarie BMW X5 e Mercedes ML. "Only time will tell", o meglio, "chi vivrà, vedrà". Certo è che l'idea di un SUV stradale e sportivo con il celebre scudetto alfa sulla calandra è tutt'ora molto, molto stuzzicante.

Good news for Fiat Group. After the future flagship Alfa 169, Alfa Romeo introduces another great new entry. As a matter of fact, the car manufacturer is going to launch its first crossover, which is expected to be launched by 2009, and which is now named Cxover. Alfa CXover is going to be a five-door sports car, developed on the same structure of Kamal, with the same distinctive cutting edge shapes which characterize all coupè models, and with the same strenght and compact shape of SUV vehicles.
Alfa CXover is about five meters long, and it is supposed to inherit from concept Kamal even its aggressive nature. The engine which powered the futuristic prototype was a great 3.2 V6, it offered an output of 250 hp, and it was able to guarantee sports performances. Therefore, even Cxover is expected to be powered by a great engine set, capable of offering high performances and also able to follow all drivers' demands. During its debut, the vehicle is supposed to be equipped by a new six-cylinders both fuel and diesel, combined with high advanced technology: everything this sports SUV needs.
