Citroen C4 WRC From prototype to world rally championship The three times world rally champion car in builders category will have a heiress in 2007. Citroen Xara WRC will try to follow the winning path that made the Xsara WRC became one of the best rally cars ever. In the beginning it was only a style concept, the Citroen C4 Sport: the glass roof was really good looking but not accroding at all with WRC regulations. Front and rear mudguards, bumpers and spoilers had to change too. Many other details of the C4 Sport were not according with WRC rules, so it has been a hard work. But the result is great, and it’s a real rally car. Ready to challenge for other victories all over the world, the C4 WRC we’re talking about looks like a perfect oppnent for Subaru, Mitsubishi and Ford. Objectives: victory! Like Xsara, more than Xsara Objective is ambitious. Citroeen Xsara WRC demonstrated in action its qualities. Being always at the top is not easy at all. But a good signal comes from early tests, where the C4 WRC results are close to the ones obtained by the older, experienced and winning Xsara WRC. The new engine, according to WRC rules, is a 2.0 liters supercharged with turbo developing 315hp at 5500rpm and 568nm of maximum torque at 2750rpm. It comes directly form the XU7JP4 unit cross-sectional mounted. The transmission is semi-automatic, with six gears and cross-sectional mounted. Suspensions deeply evolved from Xsara’s but keeping precious experience. The new C4 WRC is 4274 long, 1800mm large, wheelbase is 2608mm and tracks are 1600mm. We’ll soon see what this new Citroen rally car is able to do: we all expect grat results!
