Fiat nuova 500 – Test Drive Preview

We did our best to keep our mouth shut…but now we can stand the wait anymore! After ?Quattroruote?, the most important Italian car magazine, decided to publish the new Fiat 500’s test drive without waiting for the official presentation, which is going to took place on Turin the 5th July, we can not help to offering to our readers our own impressions about the awaited car as well. As a matter of fact, we had the occasion to drive and test its characterostoics on the road some days ago, and now we are pleased to give you a little ?taste? of it, waiting for the complete test drive and photogallery which will be online later, following the official presentation.

Powertrain
The new Fiat 500’s range set is composed of three engines very different from each others: two fuel units and one turbodiesel unit. The 1.2 fuel can offer an horsepower output of 70 hp, while the 1.3 Mjet develop 75 horsepower, while, for the most ?lively? drivers the powerful 1.4 16 valves can even reach 100 hp.

Inside the cab: only for ?short? people!
Fiat new 500 feautures a lot of solutions derived from Fiat Panda. The new Fiat 500’s cab is characterized by a high attention for all details, and by a particular style: the steering wheel and all seats are leather, while the dashboard shows the same colour of the exterior. Morevoer, chromed handlings, like the old Fiat 500, technological optional gadgets, high quality materials and ergonomic design.

At the front comfort and view are very good, while at the rear people too tall could have some problems and feel a little bit strict, as the room availble is not too wide.

On the road
After a first study, we can now jump inside the cab and start the engine. For this first test drive, we have all 1.4 units of 100 hp versions. Since the first metres we notice the steering wheel is very ahndling and easy to drive. The driving position is comfortable, and the 16 valves engine is definately aggressive and bright.
