Xpand Rally Extreme – Recensione

Mud, dust and petrol smell. A little bit of backache, high-tension and a general condition of excitement. This is what a rally driver exactly feels during races, and this is what Xpand Rally Extreme aims to re-create. The new PC videogame aims to offer to the player all the same feelings os a race driver, by representing a realistic virtual scene. The world of entertainment is increasing day by day, and also digital gamed are becoming more and more dashing and refined.
Koch Media, Techland and Deep Silver On the surface, Xtreme appears to be the complete package. With the option of a quick race or an entire rally, a bevy of different classes and vehicles and a choice of either arcade or simulation style handing, Techland’s ode to mud-bound racing has all the features to fill up the back-of-the-box blurb and sell itself as a result. Before each race, cars can be tweaked to finite detail, ensuring – in theory, at least – that they run to the exact specifications of each user. The positives continue, right up to the start of a race. Everything is initially as it should be: the tracks are typically thorny, with navigation aided by some perfectly adequate commands from the co-driver. Sadly both are hindered by the fact that the car feels and looks almost totally disconnected from its surroundings. Surfaces feel distinctly blurred, one merging into the other, with the car sliding itself around the course as if the whole thing were coated with a surface of morning frost. To put it simply, driving on Xtreme is a challenge – and not for the right reasons. The cars themselves, while not officially licensed, are recognisable and distinguishable, but it is strangely not until some of the higher classed vehicles are taken for a ride that any of them start to feel like they have a relationship with the track beneath their tyres. Graphically, they also suffer – along with the rest of the game. While in stills Xpand Rally Xtreme more than keeps up with some of its competition, in motion all the different parts fail to gel. Infomotori.co.uk’s test. If you have a good PC, Xpand Rally Extreme can become an exciting driving experience.
A lot of bumps, ditches, bends, many different kind of paths, forests, mountain roads: the range of environments available is very rich, and as a result the game is charcaterized by a very high quality level. Also graphics is excellent, adn the player can easily control shadows, meteo conditions, lights, HDR and maps.
We tested the cars on different paths, and we realized we lose the contact with reality on hard and extreme challenges. This to test how much this game can represent real racing feelings and emotions. What we notice, is that the attention for realism is maximum.
